The man who has made Indians cheer by knocking down crucial wickets for 18 years has decided to quit test cricket. The third test between India and Australia played at Ferozshah Kotla is his last. This has been his hunting ground in the past. No Indian will forget his record breaking stunt of ten wickets in an innings. This feat was achieved against Pakistan. He has a tally of 619 wickets in 132 matches. He has a test hundred to his name too.
The injury which occurred to him on the third day made him to take his decision faster. Everyone were shocked to hear his retirement. The Australian captain also applauded Kumble for his determination. He has started his career in 1990 under captain Azharuddin. Until then he has faced several criticisms. He has worked hard on his bowling all these years to sustain his mastery in all situations.
He has admitted that no criticism has been involved in his decision to retire. He was agitated by press people for having a bad tour against Srilanka. Everyone talked about his downfall when young lad Amit Mishra took five wicket haul. A player who has served Indian cricket for 18 tough years was compared with a youngster.
